The ‘Slaughter Solution’ would violate the Constitution |
The Democrats are assaulting the very pillars of our democracy. As the debate on Obamacare reaches the long, painful end, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is confronting a political nightmare. She may not have the 216 votes necessary to pass the Senate’s health care bill in the House.
|
| Mrs. Pelosi and her congressional Democratic allies are seriously considering using a procedural ruse to circumvent the traditional constitutional process. Led by Rep. Louise M. Slaughter, New York Democrat and chairman of the House Rules Committee, the new plan - called the “Slaughter Solution” - is not to pass the Senate version on an up-or-down vote. Rather, it is to have the House “deem” that the legislation was passed and then have members vote directly on a series of “sidecar”Read more at washingtontimes.com |

Further, all of this information regarding the accuracy and independence of NASA GISS data was directly communicated to a reporter from USA Today in August 2007.
The reporter never published it.
In a sane world these snake oil salesmen would be jailed. | Holy Junk Science, Al Gore! |
NASA and the state-run media knew about temperature data issues nearly three years ago…
But pushed global warming junk science despite of this. |
Email messages obtained by the Competitive Enterprise Institute via a Freedom of Information Act request reveal that the climate dataset of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) was considered — by the top climate scientists within NASA itself — to be inferior to the data maintained by the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit (CRU). |
The NASA scientists also felt that NASA GISS data was inferior to the National Climate Data Center Global Historical Climate Network (NCDC GHCN) database. |
These emails, obtained by Christopher Horner, also show that the NASA GISS dataset was not independent of CRU data. |
| Without any oversight, accounting, or transparency, environmental activist groups have surreptitiously received at least $37 million from the federal government for questionable “attorney fees.” The lawsuits they received compensation for had nothing to do with environmental protection or improvement. |
The activist groups have generated huge revenue streams via the obscure Equal Access to Justice Act. Congressional sources claim the groups are billing for “cookie cutter” lawsuits — they file the same petitions to multiple agencies on procedural grounds, and under the Act, they file for attorney fees even if they do not win the case. Since 1995, the federal government has neither tracked nor accounted for any of these attorney fee payments. |
| Nine national environmental activist groups alone have filed more than 3,300 suits, every single one seeking attorney fees. |
Commentary: Recent data paint a picture of an economy slowing — sharply |
 The fledgling economic recovery appears to be running out of gas… The recent run of economic data is most compelling. Just about all of them paint a picture of an economy slowing — and sharply, at that… |
– both consumer confidence and sentiment have fallen unexpectedly;
– after-tax personal incomes adjusted for inflation have flattened;
– sales of both new and existing homes took a surprising stumble;
– orders for most durable goods are down;
– manufacturing has slowed;
– jobless claims are up;
– fourth-quarter GDP growth came largely from a slower pace of inventory liquidation, not from an increase in consumer spending; |
– and as a matter of fact, consumer spending weakened last quarter.
Understand that the changes in the data above were not insignificant:
– consumer confidence fell to a 27-year low; Read more at directorblue.blogspot.com |
During his campaign for Attorney General of Virginia, Ken Cuccinelli committed himself to acting with an aggressive conservative agenda. He promised voters that he would the office to aggressively fight governmental overregulation and interference wherever he could find it. |
In other words, he pledged to use the office of Attorney General for good, rather than evil. After just over one month in office, he’s off to one hell of a start. |
Last week, AG Cuccinelli boldly petitioned the EPA to convene a proceeding to reexamine their “Endangerment Finding” which claims that human activity has increased atmospheric greenhouse gases to a point that people’s lives are at risk. As such, they claim, the federal government must impose new caps on emissions and other climate protection policies in the energy sector. |
These “scientists” are being discredited at a pace that would make President Obama’s growing unpopularity get whiplash envy. More and more it is finally being realized that they are what us laymen have known them to be all along, political eco-priests who have declared an actual WAR on SCIENCE and have formed an unholy alliance with liberal policy makers to build up a public cult of global warming. |
Look liberals, either the globe is warming or it isn’t….but you don’t get to play this game where the earth says “I’m a popsicle because I have a fever.” That doesn’t make sense! |
If the earth is getting warmer then when I turn on the Vancouver 2010 Olympics I want to see Lindsey Vonn doing the slalom on grass in a bikini…thats a promise that shouldn’t be made unless it can be kept damn it! |
Whatever the case may be, its becoming increasingly clear that the worlds climate emperor indeed has no clothes. |
Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) today asked the Obama administration to investigate what he called “the greatest scientific scandal of our generation” — the actions of climate scientists revealed by the Climategate Files, and the subsequent admissions by the editors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report (AR4). |
Senator Inhofe also called for former Vice President Al Gore to be called back to the Senate to testify. |
“In [Gore's] science fiction movie, every assertion has been rebutted,” Inhofe said. He believes Vice President Gore should defend himself and his movie before Congress. |
| Just prior to a hearing at 10:00 a.m. EST, Senator Inhofe released a minority staff report from the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, of which he is ranking member.Read more at www.julescrittenden.com |
| Warmal scientists are compelled to admit (again) that they don’t know what they’re talking about |
| Apparently they miscalculated some numbers, and in their study of the last 22,000 years, forgot to account for the last 2,000. Oops. UK Guardian |
| Their abstract indicates they are estimating what would happen in the case of 1.1- to 6.4-degree centigrade warming, as predicted by IPCC |
| Seeing as the waterlevel soothsayers at Bristol acknowledge excluding the last 2,000 years, I’m going to take that to mean they have also excluded the last 10, in which warming reportedly has stalled. And during which some scientists have suggested we might actually be heading into a mini-ice age. Again. |
| Forget about the last 10 — |
| The charts at the wiki warmal page show the alarming level of warming since the Industrial Revolution got going around 1800, a couple hundred years ago. Really scary. Let’s go to the science. |
Who is the worst killer in the long, ugly history of war and extermination? Hitler? Stalin? Pol Pot? Not even close. A single book called Silent Spring killed far more people than all those fiends put together. |
Published in 1962, Silent Spring used manipulated data and wildly exaggerated claims (sound familiar?) to push for a worldwide ban on the pesticide known as DDT – which is, to this day, the most effective weapon against malarial mosquitoes. The Environmental Protection Agency held extensive hearings after the uproar produced by this book… and these hearings concluded that DDT should not be banned. A few months after the hearings ended, EPA administrator William Ruckleshaus over-ruled his own agency and banned DDT anyway, in what he later admitted was a “political” decision. Threats to withhold American foreign aid swiftly spread the ban across the world. |
